Life at Atlassian
As a part of our latest recruitment push, we’ve put up a page entitled “Life at Atlassian”:http://www.atlassian.com/about/life.jsp covering the various reasons working for us is… well… something you should definitely consider!
One of my learnings over the last 4 years is that recruitment is really all about marketing. I’ve often wondered about putting our Marketing Director in charge of recruitment for a period of time. Explain the value proposition, track measurable results, traffic and eventual ‘sales’. Perhaps a new market for “Omniture”:http://www.omniture.com.
Anyway, I hope it explains things. Any questions, let me know and I’ll make sure it gets updated!
(PS. As always, “we’re hiring”:http://www.atlassian.com/about/jobs.jsp
)
Ahh, but marketing is all about making an awesome product. So you’re work with the vision and culture of the company are infinitely more important then a ‘value proposition’, although that’s worth thinking about. As Mr Druker said, the only two functions of a company that matter are “Innovation and marketing”.
Instead, I’d suggest you get your HR person to read Solution Selling by Mike Bosworth – how to sell complex things.

First off, I must say, I haven’t seen you on IRC in about a good three years (I’m MeLearnin). I’m glad to see Atlassian has been doing very well and I wish you all the best, career and health wise.
Best Regards,
