Built-to-flip scares me
Blog-to-email gateway Zookoda has come out and announced it is for sale.
We use it at work for managing email newsletters and I’ll say it’s certainly a solid product. The biggest concern I’ve always had with Zookoda is the revenue model – they don’t have one.
Moreover at a Sydney conference earlier this year when queried about revenues and business model, Yorke Hinds simply replied honestly “We don’t have one, we built it to sell to someone bigger.” Scary. Bubble 2.0 indeed.
I’ve met both guys, I think they’ve built a great product and I wish them the best of luck with the sale, but I must say that the whole “build-to-flip” mentality isn’t the way I’d build a business.

Does feeds to email, and has a very good revenue model. I don’t think it’s for sale: last time I checked, it was providing the owner with a tdy income. He’s demo’s it and discussed the business angles at various TorCamp un-conferences.
Yep, couldn’t agree more. It’s a risky venture building something where you’ve reduced your potential revenue source down to a handful of companies that might be willing to buy you.
I won`t bay Zookoda :p
