Open Source FUD – The Verge Framework
Does anyone know who “these jokers”:http://www.inversoft.com/products.html are?
I’m not sure if their framework is actually any good (I haven’t tried it) but I have to say that their marketing is atrocious. Besides the fact that their ‘checkbox list’ is factually incorrect in a number of places (Struts and WebWork don’t have i18n error messages – what the?!), whoever writes their copy was clearly on the wrong sort of chemicals:
bq. The Verge MVC is so robust that other frameworks such as Struts, WebWork, Spring, Velocity could be placed inside of the Verge MVC.
One wonders a) why you would want to put one MVC framework inside another and b) how the robustness of a framework effects it’s ability to have other frameworks embedded.
Oh, and another of my favourites – one of their checkboxes for the view layer of their framework:
bq. Full W3C compliance
Now I’m not really sure how this is anything to do with the framework (it’s clearly a facet of HTML, not any server side processing), one wonders how they had the balls to say that Struts _and_ WebWork are *not* W3C compliant! Amazing!
