Thank you
I’m back – it was a rough week, but I cannot express profound enough thanks for all the friends I have online – and the strangers too. The power of blogs as a connective medium has never been better brought home to me.
The comments online were well thought out and meaningful – thank you to all those who commented. As for those who emailed me (both friends and strangers alike) to communicate their best wishes and relay extremely personal experiences, I cannot thank you enough. People talked about how they managed to deal with their divorces, discovering infidelity, the death of a loved one and all manner of painful experiences.
To say it floored me is an understatement. And it was all a great help. I still feel like I’m living a bad dream, but to know other people have done it before makes it much less scary. (PS I haven’t managed to reply to everyone personally yet, but I will get to it.)
People sent all manner of great quotes to me too – which had helped them ‘deal’. My favourite was about living with a Rocky-like attitude:
Get off your knees. Brush off your wounds and stand up. Look the world in the eye and say “Fuck you world – I’m still here. Is that the best you’ve got?”
What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.
