Back in town
Phew! After my second lap of the globe this year (I feel like Magellan!) I’m finally back in Sydney – and it’s good to be home. No matter how much you like or dislike Qantas, as soon as they touch down and start playing “I still call Australia home” over the PA, you can’t help but feel fantastic to be back.
(Oh – and unfortunately I usually can’t help singing along either, but that doesn’t really endear you to your fellow passengers)
The trip was really great:
- In Boston for TSS I met some fantastic people, whom I hope I keep in contact with. The conference was truly excellent, by far the best tech event I’ve attended in recent memory. (notes)
- In New York I caught up with some existing JIRA customers and hopefully made some new ones. I also got a dose of American culture with the Independence Day celebrations in the Big Apple – including the world hot dog eating championship at Coney Island.
- In London I canvassed more customers for thoughts, ideas and feedback. I like London in summer I’ve decided (you know London summer – the 4 days a year it’s warm and sunny) because you can drink on the street outside a pub, very civilised.
- On the way home I spent 3 days on a beach in Indonesia – doing nothing. It was truly relaxing.
And now I’m back in the office raring to go. JIRA 2.4 is on the way, and Confluence will soon go into alpha testing with some select customers. Fire up!
